HGN has been in use by police officers for 40+ years. In that time there hasn't been a single advancement to the field sobriety testing battery to help officers.
We are building v4 of NYTE RYDR that is purpose built for use by police officers in the field. We are building 15 of these units for agencies to use on suspected drunk drivers.
The 40+ year dry streak ends today. We are happy to provide officers a new tool to give the officer an advantage in successfully holding impaired drivers accountable.
So, what are you waiting for? Let's go get them.
The unit has all the tests required by the manual in order on the back of the device. The tests are in order and timed perfectly.
The screen displays time and date, test selected, remaining recording time, distance from the suspect and angle of the stimulus.
The stimulus is a fast-moving LED light that moves in times prescribed by The Manual.
Our stimulus meets the definition of a stimulus as defined by The Manual. This was confirmed by the IACP.
The device records the suspect's participation in HGN.
The video will display the angle of onset, which is automatically calculated for you.
Video collected by the NYTE RYDR device will show all the information needed for successful prosecution or training.
The timing of the stimulus is recorded for each test to prove that the test was done correctly thereby strengthening your case..
We undertook a lengthy validation study to prove that the device works. To accomplish our goal, we attended wet labs across the country and tested the volunteer drinkers. Each drinker was tested first by an officer conducting HGN, then an officer using NYTE RYDR, and then another officer conducing HGN. The observations by each officer were then recorded. Also captured was the stimulus timing, video, and volunteer drinker information.
This information was then handed over to an independent researcher who correlated all the data. The data shows that the device is accurate, repeatable, does not fundamentally change HGN, and that officers using the device saw more clues.
This report was then turned over to the International Association of Chiefs of Police's Technology Advisory Panel. The organization reviewed the documents and returned a finding that using the device to conduct HGN does not conflict with The Manual. They also confirmed that using a light as a stimulus meets the definition of a stimulus as defined in The Manual.
We are looking to partner with agencies serious about DUI enforcement to field test the latest generation of NYTE RYDR.
Tell us what works, what sucks, what you love, and what you hate.
But above all else, use it and go get them.
